Americans Elect has created online nominating process for 2012 election

The 21st century information revolution, in partnership with groundbreaking technological advances in how we are able to communicate and share information, has drastically changed almost everything in politics, except for one of the critical aspects: the nomination process for candidates. The opportunity for real and lasting change has come with the introduction of Americans Elect, a nonpartisan, non-profit organization founded by citizens from across the political spectrum to create a second nominating process that will give all registered voters the opportunity to select a third ticket on the 2012 Presidential ballot through an historic, first-ever online nominating convention.

By using the Internet, voters will be able to decide what issues are most important for the election, and then be able to search and vote for candidates based on those issues. It will be a convention held by the voters, and for the voters.

I believe that the current primary procedures need changing. I believe every voter should have equal say in who is nominated for a presidential ticket, and that we should not give special privilege to the voters in early primary states like Iowa.

Our political system is broken and our country is in trouble! The two political parties are so polarized that Washington is paralyzed. Our elected officials continue a vicious cycle of mindless partisanship, inaction on crucial issues and unsustainable dysfunction covered endlessly in the 24-hour news cycle. Check out the link below to see a quick overview of the process:

Americans Elect is not a third party; it is an entirely new process that empowers every voter, regardless of state or ideology. They have already obtained ballot access certification in Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Kansas, Maine, Michigan, Mississippi, Nevada, New Mexico, Ohio, Rhode Island, Utah, Vermont and Wyoming, and they are continuing to gather the necessary requirements for all 50 states. This is a movement that is at pace to become a household name by the time election season rolls around in 2012.

Registration for Americans Elect is easy, and can be completed in a matter of minutes. Simply go to Americans Elect 2012 (americanselect.org) to register yourself, it does not matter if you are already a registered member of another political party, as Americans Elect is not an alternative party. By registering to become an Americans Elect delegate you are not committing yourself to any obligations, but you are opening the door to join the most dynamic attempt to change our political system in generations. If modern technology has changed every other aspect of our lives from social interaction, to banking, to paying bills, it will surely and irreversibly change our politics. Americans Elect is an exciting call to change in American politics. You have a chance to be part of something very big in American politics - and the nice part of this process is you don't have to give up your political party or preferences.
