Winnemucca - The American Red Cross, Winnemucca Service Center, has announced its nominees for the 2011 Real Heroes celebration and "A Taste of Winnemucca" Banquet to be held on September 8, 2012 at the Winnemucca Convention Center- East Hall beginning at 6pm.
Nominees were nominated by other community members in 10 different categories for their extraordinary courage and selflessness. The following people have been nominated and will be honored:
Community Hero (Individual) - Mary Bengoa, Sunny Johnson, James Carver, Karon Jury-Ferjanec, JoAnn Casalez
Community Hero (Group) - Lovelock Correctional Center, Winnemucca Host Lions Club
Emergency Responder Hero - Jeff Casalez
Workplace Safety Hero - Employees of Diamond Plastics, Cory Sample
Youth Hero - Torrey Herrera
Education Hero - Lily Avalos
Along with the awards, the American Red Cross will also have live entertainment provided by local up and coming country artist Dusty Ham. Join us for a wonderful evening courtesy of our 2012 sponsors Newmont, Barrick Gold of North America Mining Corporation, Cyanco, Hycroft Resource & Development Inc., Goldcorp/Marigold Mine, and Winnemucca Convention & Visitors Authority.
Help support our Local Heroes, the American Red Cross and your community. All proceeds from the event will be used to provide emergency relief to families and individuals who are displaced from their homes due to fire or other disasters.
