Albert 'Bud' Lee Payne

We share the loss of a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. Albert "Bud" Lee Payne, 79, of Winnemucca, passed away on Monday, Sept. 10, 2012.

Bud truly loved people, talked to everyone, had a compassionate heart and was loved deeply. As an avid Nevada outdoorsman he loved hunting and fishing. He was idolized as a legendary fisherman by his grandchildren. He will be remembered by many for his hunting and fishing prowess, and had recently discovered his ability for tying flies could also be used in making jewelry. Bud was an active member of the "breakfast club" at the Winnemucca Inn.

Bud was especially devoted to his family and dogs. He was the anchor to a large family who will remember him as kind and generous with a great sense of humor. His family will continue to pass along all of the "big fish stories" and will never forget his nurturing spirit.

Bud served in the US Army, in Germany, from 1956-1958. He worked as a miner in the Yerington, Anaconda copper mine, and Battle Mountain Gold Company.

Bud was born to Raymond and Esther Payne in Oxley, Mo., on June 16, 1933, but lived most of his life in Nevada. Bud is survived by his wife, Darlene Payne; and his six children, Steve and Maggie Brackney, Steve and Kathi Huddleston, Thomas and Vicki Payne, Sergio Ulloa, Linda Payne, Rick and Pamela Payne, Merry Payne and Norman McCord. Bud is also survived by two siblings, Donald Payne and Wanda Everett; 12 grandchildren and eight great grand children. He is predeceased by his parents, sister Diana Payne and two children, Raymond and Elizabeth Payne.

A celebration of life is planned to honor Bud on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, in the banquet room, Winnemucca Inn, 10 a.m. Memorials may be sent to PO box 1517, Winnemucca, NV 89446.
