WINNEMUCCA - Lowry High School senior Carlos Aguilar was named to the Division I-A North boys soccer first team at forward. In addition he was named to the Division I-A all-state second team. He was the only Buckaroo named to the all-state team.
Sparks' Frank Avilla and Ruben Pacheco were named the Coach of the Year and Player of the Year in the Division I-A North..
Northern players on the first-team, all-state squad included Sparks' Pacheco, Juan Hernandez and Lucio Espita and Tom Arnstein, Max Barta and Gabby Serna of Truckee.
The second team was comprised of Churchill County's Corbin Waite, Truckee's Rolando Zarate, Elko's Brendan Shelly, Sparks' Juan Mendoza and South Tahoe's Derek Carno.
The Division I-A North first team included Pacheco and Zarate at forward. Waite, Arnstein, Hernandez and Shelly were picked at halfback and Barta, Espita and Shelly at fullback. Serna was chosen at goalkeeper and Caro was a utility player.
The Buckaroos' Kevin Blanco was named to the Division I-A North second team as a halfback.
The second team was comprised of Sparks' Edwin Navarro, Spring Creek's Garrett Powell and Truckee's Manuel Sarabia at forward. The halfbacks were made up of Truckee's Davis Martinez, Sparks' Jesus Partuda and Spring Creek's Evan Morris. The fullbacks included Truckee's Armando Diaz, Sparks' Luis Guisendore and Spring Creek's Star 'Ita.
South Tahoe's Kyle Hannah was named at goalkeeper and Truckee's Jordan Fereira was the utility player.
Lowry's Chris Mendoza and Alex Roark were named to the honorable mention team at halfback and fullback, respectively.
Lowry finished the year 5-8-3 in the Division I-A North and 10-9-3 overall.
