Age of new mobile and manufactured homes to be reviewed

BATTLE MOUNTAIN - Lander County commissioners voted unanimously at their Jan. 26 meeting to uphold the recommendation of the Lander County Planning Commission and approve the proposal to amend the Lander County Code 15.24.030(D) to change the allowable age of mobile and manufactured homes from five to 15 years old and to propose an ordinance for introduction during the Feb. 9 county commission meeting. A public hearing will be held at a later date before the ordinance can be passed.

According to the commission packet, provisions of the code are such that any mobile or manufactured home to be permanently placed anywhere in Lander County must be built or manufactured not more than five years from the date of such permanent placement.

This provision was put into Lander County code through the passage by the Commission of Lander County Code Ordinance No. 2007-09 in February 2007. This restriction does not apply to mobile or manufactured homes already in existence within Lander County.

The Lander County Planning Commission met in regular session on Jan. 11 and unanimously approved recommendation for approval of the amendment to the code to change the allowable age of mobile and manufactured homes from five to 15 years old by the Lander County Board of Commissioners.

Approval of the recommendation will be facilitated by proposing an ordinance to change the code to be formally introduced at the Feb. 9 commission meeting.
