'After the Close - Homeowner Education'

Housing Authority unveils online course

CARSON CITY - The Nevada Rural Housing Authority (NRHA) recently unveiled an online course, "After The Close - Homeowner Education," which provides homeowners with information on keeping their homes in great condition after they move in. It includes resources on budgeting, expenses and regular maintenance, as well as general housekeeping tips and how to prepare for emergencies.

Though it was created for new homeowners who take advantage of its Home at Last programs - down payment assistance (4 percent grant) and/or the Mortgage Tax Credit (MTC) - the course is available for anyone who wants a refresher course on the responsibilities of owning a home.

"We believe in promoting responsible homeownership," said Gary Longaker, NRHA executive director. "We want new homebuyers to not only feel financially comfortable with their decisions to buy the home, but we also want them to continue to be prepared as they own their homes for many, many years to come."

"The is a free online course that will take less than an hour to complete - but it will help prepare our new homeowners for the challenges and responsibilities that come with owning a home," said Laura Lau, Northern Nevada Mortgage & Marketing specialist.
