Adelaide Mine exploration project preliminary EA available for public comment

WINNEMUCCA - The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Winnemucca District, Humboldt River Field Office, has prepared a preliminary environmental assessment (PEA) to analyze the impacts associated with Golden Predator Mines (GPM) US Inc.'s Adelaide Mine Exploration Plan of Operations (Plan) to expand their existing exploration activities in the Adelaide mining area. The proposed project is located east of Winnemucca approximately 10 miles south of Golconda in Humboldt County. The public is invited to provide substantive comments on the PEA until the comment period ends Aug. 10. GPM currently has approximately five acres of proposed or constructed surface disturbance under existing authorizations on public land within the project area. The plan would add approximately 23 acres of new surface disturbance to existing exploration activities, for a total of 28 acres. The project area covers approximately 641 acres. Exploration activities under this plan would continue for approximately four years, pending results of the exploration. A copy of the PEA is available for public review during regular business hours at the Winnemucca District Office. A copy of the PEA, scoping letter and maps are also available at http://www.blm.gov/nv/st/en/fo/wfo/blm_information/nepa0.html. Public comments may be submitted via regular mail to: Daniel Atkinson, Attn: Adelaide Mine Exploration Project EA, BLM Humboldt River Field Office, 5100 E. Winnemucca Blvd., Winnemucca NV 89445-2921, or via e-mail to wfoweb@nv.blm.gov. E-mail messages should include "Adelaide Mine Exploration (Atkinson)" in the subject line. Public comments submitted for this project, including names and addresses of commentors, will be available for public review at the Winnemucca District Office during regular business hours, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, except federal holidays.[[In-content Ad]]
