A wine walkabout

June 21 event to feature party, prizes and contests

The Battle Mountain Chamber of Commerce will be hosting an afternoon and evening of fun and festivities June 21 with a wine walk that will have the theme of Flip In and Out of Summer.

There will be a contest for best flip flops and an after part at Mountain View Golf Course.

"I scheduled it on the first day of summer so we could get out and enjoy summer as a community," said Sady Tingy, executive director of the Battle Mountain Chamber of Commerce. "Come with your summer-tastic flip flops and enjoy what our local businesses have to offer."

The wine walk will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. It starts at the chamber and consists of 23 businesses. Stretch golf carts will be available to take people around town to the various businesses.

In addition to wine tasting at local businesses, the after party at 7 p.m. will feature raffle prizes, a DJ, fireworks, a putting contest, tricycle races and a photo booth.

People who get their maps stamped at all of the businesses will get entered into the raffles, Tingy said.

The wine walk is $25 per person and wine glasses are included. IDs are required and people must be wearing their wrist bracelets. The after party is for all ages and people do not have to participate in the wine walk to attend. It is a free event, Tingy said.

Those who would like more information can call Tingy at (775) 635-8245.

A second wine walk is planned for Aug. 16.
