You know well, I'm sure, the cliché, "A picture paints a thousand words." Well, just look at the picture on the front page of the Lovelock Review-Miner in last week's edition. A mechanical monster (helicopter) swoops out of the sky to terrorize and traumatize a heard of beautiful wild and free horses. This illustrates my point exactly.
These "inbred scavengers" should be disposed of per our rancher advocates. They suggest we ship them off to indefinite confinement equivalent to a human version of a concentration camp at taxpayer's expense. Never mind that they are outnumbered by cattle by approximately 50 to one on the range. Never mind that the ranchers have a vested interest in the raising of cattle. Also, we should not mention the sweet deal the ranchers have with the B.L.M. leasing out public lands at a pittance!
What can I say? Am I the only one seeing this? Animal cruelty is such a harsh term!
Should we destroy our symbol of western freedom because its inconvenient to a few? Should we write the mustangs off to past history along with our own diminishing freedoms in favor of regulation and control?
Is this what we want?
