Co-workers threw a party on the last day of school for Valerie Lane, a teacher for 30 years. She has taught for 17 years in Battle Mountain and has mainly taught prekindergarten/kindergarten. She retired this year and will be moving to Reno with her husband this summer. A red hat and boa were given to Lane at the party as joke that she will be joining the Red Hat Society. The luncheon was held in the white gym at Battle Mountain Elementary Schools. Many of her past and present co-workers made a scrapbook page with their memories, well wishes and pictures. Dusti Campbell, a P.I.R.C. (Parent Involvement Resource Center) volunteer, assembled it and added many finishing touches.
