LOVELOCK - The 4-H Christmas play is becoming a Lovelock Christmas tradition, with this being the third year the drama club has treated the community to a holiday performance.
This year's production, "Get Up, Get Out," directed by 4-H Drama Club leader Leslie Millican, centers around two children whose mother is trying to get them away from the television and out into the crisp winter air.
The play opens with Sue and Matt, played by Daralyn Moura and Dominic Zazhitskiy, watching a movie called "Santa is missing." After Mom, played by Kylee Fuller, tries unsuccessfully to get the two outside, Elves jump out of the television set and take the children on an adventure looking for Santa.
While helping the elves find Santa, the brother and sister surprise friends by being outside and discover a very lively snowman, played by William Evenson, who played multiple roles in the play.
The children even get to watch a live Nativity scene with participants acting to the song "Away in a Manger." Reagan Burrows starts the Nativity scene singing the first verse and acting as baby Jesus.
The play climaxes with the song "Silent Night." The highlight of the song is when Evenson sings in French and Zazhitskiy sings in Russian.
Zazhitskiy confessed that he was embarrassed while singing "Silent Night" in Russian, although, one would not have noticed from his performance. The 7-year-old said he would like to be an actor when he grows up and play roles like Tarzan, Diego and Nemo.
This is Moura's second public play, her first being the lead in the Lovelock Elementary School production of "Annie." She also likes to act.
"It's fun to pretend to be someone else," she said.
The 4-H Drama Club members have to write a report about their experience in the play as part of their drama club project.
