WINNEMUCCA - On Saturday, Oct. 8, Winnemucca District Bureau of Land Management (BLM) employees along with 19 volunteers from the local community participated in the third annual "Community Cleanup" Day. The event was sponsored by the BLM and the local RESPECT group of Winnemucca. The objective of the event was to clean up trash on public land around the Bloody Shins Trailhead area. Approximately 11 tons of trash, concrete, and rubbish were removed from public lands in this area.
"The community participation, along with BLM Winnemucca staff allowed for a successful cleanup of public land in the areas of the Bloody Shin's trailhead." said Gene Seidlitz, District Manager. "The end result was rewarding knowing a true difference was made by local volunteers of Winnemucca and Humboldt County."
The BLM and RESPECT are working together to put up more "No Dumping" signs in several areas around the community.
