After struggling with seven consecutive losses in Northern 3A East play, the Lowry High School regrouped this past Thursday and Friday to sweep Dayton in a tripleheader and head into the Northern 3A Regional Championships, which is Thursday through Saturday in Winnemucca.
Lowry beat Dayton 15-0 on Thursday and swept a doubleheader from the Dust Devils on Friday, winning 18-0 and 16-2.
The Lady Bucks finished the regular season at 15-15 and 7-8 in the Northern 3A East.

Lowry senior Kadence Cooney needed just 41 pitches to throw a one-hitter in Lowry’s 15-0 win on Thursday. Cooney walked two and struck out one. Dayton’s lone hit came in the first inning.
Shelbie Hoyt led off the game for Lowry with a solo home run and the onslaught was on from there, as the Lady Bucks scored nine times in the first inning and sending 13 batters to the plate.
Megan Cook and Savannah Stoker followed with a triple and double before the first out was recorded.
Bailey Hayes and Hayden Case restarted the rally with base hits and Maddison McClure and Cambria Tisue reached on a walk and error respectively.
Hoyt and Cook added their second hit of the first inning to round out the rally.
It was more of the same in the second inning, as Lowry scored six times. Two of the runs were on a single by Hoyt and Stoker had a three-run home run.
Hoyt was 3-for-3 with five RBI in just two innings of at bats and Stoker was 2-for-2 with four RBI and was hit by a pitch. Cook and Case had two hits apiece and Kenzi Dowd-Smith, Tisue and Hayes each had a hit.

Stoker turned in a dominant pitching performance in Friday’s opening game, striking out seven of the 10 batters she faced. The only that kept her from a perfect game was a ground that was sharply hit off her glove and rolled in between first and second base in the second inning. The sophomore threw just 39 pitches, 27 for strikes.
Lowry scored 15 runs in the first inning and sent 20 batters to the plate. The first 12 batters of the game reached base and scored, before the first out was recorded on a pop out in foul territory to the Dust Devils’ catcher.
The Lady Bucks added three runs in the second inning on a bases-clearing triple by Cooney that scored Stoker, Dowd-Smith and Hayes.
Hoyt was 3-fo-r3 at the lead ff spot with 4 RBI and two runs scored. Stoker was also 3-for 3 with three runs scored and an RBI. Dowd-Smith and Cooney added two hits apiece and Cook, Hayes and Tisue each had a hit.

Dayton 2
Dayton scored its first runs of the series in the third inning with the aid of walk and error by Lowry.
The Dust Devils added their only two hits of the game in the frame to account for the runs.
Cooney struck out seven and walked on to earn the victory.
The Lady Bucks scored four times in the opening inning, off a one-out double by Cook and a triple from Stoker.
With two outs on the board, Hayes kept the rally going with a single and Cooney and McClure followed with doubles.
Lowry added five runs in the second inning, including a two-RBI double from Cook that scored Bailey Peterson and Hoyt.
The Lady Bucks added two more runs one batter later, as Stoker hit the first of her two home runs in the game.
McClure finished the scoring with a single that plated Dowd-Smith, who reached base after getting hit by a pitch.
After scoring three runs in the third inning, Lowry added four more in the fourth inning with three of those off a homer by Stoker.
Stoker was 3-for-4 with six RBI and four runs scored. Cook added three hits, four runs scored and two RBI and Dowd-Smith. Cooney and McClure each had two hits and Saige Kirchesh, Peterson and Hayes had one hit apiece.

At the beginning of last week, Lowry hosted Fernley in a three-game series and dropped all three to the Vaqueros. Fernley won 3-2 on Monday, May 2, 6-2 in game one on Tuesday, May 3, and 10-5 in 12 innings in the series finale.

The opening game of the series proved to be pitcher’s dual between Stoker and Fernley’s Mackenzie Depaoli. Depaoli struck out 12 Lady Bucks with just one walk.
She allowed two runs on three hits. Stoker struck out 11 and walked four. She gave up three runs and six hits.
The Vaqueros grabbed 1-0 lead in the first inning off an RBI single by Starr Schennum.
That score remained the same until the top of the sixth inning when the Vaqueros scored twice off of two hits, a walk and Lowry error.
The Lady Bucks had just two runners on base through the first six innings — a first-inning single by Cook and a walk by Case in the fifth.
Lowry rallied in the seventh inning, as Hayes reached base on an error with one out. With two outs, Peterson doubled her home and Tisue followed with a double.
However, the game and rally ended with a strikeout to end the game.
Cook, Tisue and Peterson had Lowry’s hits.

In the opening game on Tuesday, May 2, Fernley scored three times in the third inning and never trailed. A run by Stoker in the fourth inning closed the gap to 3-1, but the Vaqueros scored three more times in the sixth inning to stretch out the advantage.
Lowry added its other run in the sixth inning on an RBI-double by Stoker that scored Hoyt. Stoker had two hits and Hoyt, Peterson and McClure each had one hit.
Cooney suffered the loss in the circle, allowing six runs on nine hits. She walked three and struck out one.
Fernley 10, Lowry 5 (12 innings)
Lowry looked poised to win one game against the Northern 3A East champion, leading 3-0 at one time. However, the game would go 12 innings plus an injury to the field umpire allowed the game to go on for more than four hours.
Lowry led 1-0 after an inning, as Stoker drove home Hoyt. That reached to 3-0 in the third inning after Stoker hit a two-run home run.
Fernley came back with three runs in the fifth inning to tie the game at 3-3 and the Vaqueros added to more to lead 5-3 going into the bottom of the sixth inning.
A double by Jada Matheny closed the gap to 5-4 as she scored Case. The Lady Bucks tied the game at 5-5 in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI-double by Dowd-Smith after Stoker was walked.
The Lady Bucks had a chance to win in the ninth but had two hard it balls to the outfield caught.
Hoyt led off with a sharp line drive to right field but caught on the run. Cook then followed with a single and stolen base, when Stoker lined out to the outfield. The inning ended on a ground ball in the infield.
That was Lowry’s best chance to score in extra innings, as Fernley finally broke through for five runs in the 12th inning.
Stoker had three hits for Lowry and Dowd-Smith and Cooney each added two.
Stoker started and received a no-decision in five innings. She allowed three runs and four hits. She struck out three and walked six. Cooney threw the final seven innings and took the hard-luck loss.
Lowry hosts the Northern 3A Regional Championships beginning on Thursday.
Lowry takes on Elko at 10 a.m. with the winner to play Fernley at 2:30 p.m.
Churchill County and Spring Creek play Thursday at 12:15 p.m. with the winner taking on North Valleys at 4:45 p.m.
Elimination games take place at 10 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. on Friday, with the winner’s bracket game at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. An elimination game takes place on Saturday at 9 a.m. with the championship set for 11:30 a.m.
