Obituary: Keith Evan Armstrong

Keith Evan Armstrong passed away on September 14, 2021, of COVID-19 complications at the age of 49 at home. 

He was born in Modesto, CA, to Linda Mae Gardner Armstrong and Lynn Howard Armstrong. He had one brother, Steve Armstrong. 

He graduated in 1991 from Lowry High School in Winnemucca, NV. He resided in Modesto, CA; Santa Ana, CA; Whidbey, WA; Reno, NV; and Winnemucca, NV. 

Keith married Robin on September 12, 1995, 26 years ago in Winnemucca, NV. 

The two welcomed their daughter, Cherice Rose on April 15,1996. He was very proud of his beautiful baby girl. 

On June 4, 2017, Cherice married Luis Brown. Keith walked her down the aisle. He loved his granddaughter, Brinley Rose Brown, and playing with her in his shop. 

Keith was employed at McDonalds and Pizza Hut in Winnemucca, NV, at Dana’s Customs Auto Body Shop, for the Home Shopping Network Warehouse in Reno, NV. 

He worked at Hycroft Mine, Santa Fe Pacific Exploration, and other temporary jobs. 

He was a heavy equipment operator at Newmont Gold Co. and Nevada Gold Mines for 27 years.

Keith was an active member of the Winnemucca Regional Raceway Association and Humboldt County Bowling Association, playing on many bowling teams. He had a positive attitude, a wonderful sense of humor, and the biggest heart. 

He always had a smile on his face and was a friend to everyone he met, no one was ever a stranger. 

He was a good mechanic and handyman that could fix most everything. He was very knowledgeable of IT electronics, computers, video games and was always helpful to others whenever needed. 

He loved everything to do with the outdoors, riding BMX bikes, boating, driving the side by side, hunting, fishing, camping, and driving the motor home.

He enjoyed watching monster trucks, motorcycle and truck races, and operating RC vehicles. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys football team and even visited AT&T Stadium, where they play. 

He is survived by his wife, Robin, daughter Cherice (Luis) Brown, granddaughter Brinley, and his brother, Steve of Winnemucca, NV. 

His father, Lynn of Toutle, WA, Nieces, Constance (Michael) Freeman of McMinnville, OR, Caitlynne (Trevor) Montes of Imlay, NV, Heaven Bailey of Sacramento, CA, Lindsey Smith of Carson City, NV, Hope Smith, Kristen Barnes and Katlyn Barnes of Winnemucca, NV. Nephews: Jake Barnes, Caden Smith and Elijah Wilfong of Winnemucca, NV. 

He is preceded in death by his mother, Linda Armstrong, Grandparents, Frank and Shirley Gardner, Cousin, Solon Gardner, and uncles, Richard Gardner and Gary Gardner. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Zion Lutheran Church at 3205 N. Highland Dr Winnemucca, NV 89445, or the American Heart Association at heart.org. 

Burial and Graveside Services will be held at the Winnemucca Cemetery on November 13, 2021, at 2:00 pm. Funeral Service and Reception to follow at 3:00 pm at the Winnemucca Boys and Girls Club, 1973 Whitworth Way Winnemucca, NV.
