Obituary: Rose Louise Costa

Rose Louise Costa of Winnemucca, Nevada passed away at the Beehive Home in Winnemucca on November 22, 2021, at the age of 99. 

Rose was born on March 11, 1922, to Carlo and Rita Barbagelata in Mason Valley, NV. 

The family then moved to Sparks, Nevada where Rose graduated from Sparks High School and then went on to Business school. 

She worked as a secretary for 8 years at the Sparks School District and in 1949 she moved to Winnemucca where she married Tony Costa and they started a construction business in Winnemucca, Nevada. 

Rose was very involved in the St. Agnes Alter Society and Humboldt General Hospital Auxiliary where she spent many hours working at the Poke and Peek and working on the blood drive. 

Rose was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and embraced every moment with them. 

Rose also loved to garden and shared fruits and vegetables with the community, along with enjoying camping and fishing with family and friends. 

Rose is preceded in death by her parents, Carlo and Rita, sisters, Mary Leary and Olga Forgnone, husband, Tony, children, Tony C. Costa and John L. Costa and grandson, Corey M. Alexander. 

She is survived by her son, Joseph and wife, Cheryl of Elk, Washington. Grandson, Justin Costa of Sparks, NV, Granddaughter Jana Tobias and husband, Mark Tobias Jr. of Hampden, MA. Great-grandchildren, Eric costa, Haley Costa, Natalie Costa, Mark Tobias III, Johnathan Tobias, and Sylvia Tobias and several nieces and nephews. 

A Rosary and Mass will be conducted on Monday, November 29, 2021, at 10:30 am at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Winnemucca, NV. 

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Sonoma Funeral Home in Winnemucca, NV.
