Robot enthusiasts this contest is for you

WINNEMUCCA.— A new Tri-County Fair contest is all about creating the future’s most complex machines—right now.

The “Build a Robot Contest” will meld young, futuristic imaginations with 2019’s vacuum tubes, tin cans, water bottles and more. When it comes to this contest, anything goes!

The contest is a nod to this year’s Tri-County Fair theme: “Into the Future.” There are no rules and no limitations. But there will certainly be plenty of great prizes, laughs and creativity.

The contest is free and open to people of all ages. Contestants may drop off their entries to the Winnemucca Event Center from noon to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30; from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31; and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept.  1.

Entries and prizes will be available for pickup between 7:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. Sunday; winners should be ready to have their photo taken.
