CARSON CITY — The Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) is pleased to announce that the Central Office is now administering the Confidential Address Program (CAP).

CAP is a mail forwarding service for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, or stalking. This program. CAP works regularly with victim advocates throughout the State of Nevada to ensure the safety of each participant enrolled in the program.  CAP was established during the 1997 Legislative session in Senate Bill 155 and authored by Senator Mark James.

The program accepted its first participant in 1998. Nevada was the second state in the nation to provide this tool to the survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. The program was modeled after the State of Washington’s Address Confidentiality Program that was established in 1991.

Since 1998, CAP has served over 300 participants, plus their dependents, by adding security measures to their safety plan. To learn more about Nevada’s Confidential Address Program please visit our website.
