Humboldt County Employee of the Month: Christina Berish

Christina Berish, of Juvenile Services — Leighton Hall school, received the Employee of the Month award during the Jan. 2 commission meeting. She was nominated by Candace Cartier and supported in her nomination by Pauline Salla.

In the nomination letter, Cartier praised Berish’s dedication, motivation and “wealth of knowledge” in the workplace. “She is an amazing role model for both staff and the youth we serve,” Cartier wrote. “She is very pleasant to work with, focused on giving her best to her team as a whole and supports others to become successful.”

Cartier continued, “she is very thorough in her job duties and has an eye for detail. She is motivated by her desire to help others to be their personal best and for our team to run successfully.” Cartier added that Berish’s “calm demeanor ... not only helps defuse situations but makes it easy to approach her.”

Salla highlighted Berish’s “proactive” approach to her job. She also wrote, “I can depend on Christina to do her job effectively, support all staff and communicate issues clearly and directly. When Juvenile Services launched a new case management system in October of 2016, Christina took the initiative to learn the most she could about the system and trained and supported others through the transition.”
